The Top 5 Restaurants to Celebrate National Catfish Day on June 25
One of my favorite summer staples is good ol’ fried catfish – the crispier, the better! That said, there’s a day coming up that you all need to know about: June 25 is National Catfish Day. To celebrate, I’ve got some great catfish restaurants for you to try in Chickasaw Country.
1. BG’s Catch is located in Kingston by Lake Texoma. For those who have been around for a while, you’ve heard about BG’s during our Flavors of Chickasaw Country series. Not only do they have great fried catfish, but their corn fritters and homemade apple crisp will also keep you coming back.
2. McGehee’s is located in Marietta on the outskirts of town. From the all-you-can-eat catfish to the Red River Valley views, you can’t go wrong with this road trip spot.
3. Fish Tales is on the outskirts of Tishomingo in a metal barrel-shaped building. Only open on Friday and Saturday, you’ll realize why this restaurant is well worth the drive. While you’re there, snag a jalapeno hushpuppy or two.
4. Bill’s Fish House is located in Waurika, but also has a sister location in Lone Grove. Their restaurant has been around since 1962 and has been frying up some of the best catfish ever since. To top it off, their homemade tartar sauce will take your catfish to the next level.
5. Punkin’s Bar B Que & Catfish is located right off of I-35 in Pauls Valley. After swinging by this staple, you’ll realize why they were named Best BBQ & Catfish Restaurant in Garvin County.
I don’t know about you all, but my stomach is grumbling after all that fried catfish talk! Don’t forget to celebrate National Catfish Day on June 25 at one of these restaurants.
