A small town with a large history

Last month I had the privilege of visiting this month’s Featured Town of the Month, Wilson, OK. While I was there, I attended the monthly Wilson Historical Society potluck meeting.

Founded in November 1998, the Wilson Historical Society is a group of townspeople that have gathered monthly to gather and preserve the vibrant history of Wilson.

At the meeting, the Society President and the other society members greeted me with open arms.

At that meeting, I learned about the mural project around town, the next yearly town celebration in November and more.

After the meeting came to an end it was time for my personal tour of the Wilson Historical Museum. The museum was opened in 2001 and ever since then has continued growing.

From old graduation diplomas to memorabilia donated by townspeople, this museum will have you wandering for hours!

My favorite part of the museum was the archives, which house everything from old yearbooks to individual family history.
