LEARN THE LOCAL HISTORY
Becoming familiar with the history and culture of a place before visiting gives us a deeper sense of enrichment and heightened interest while traveling. Lucky for you, we’ve already done the leg work. Read up on the cool history and fun facts of Tuttle below.
Established in 1906, Tuttle developed as an agricultural community and was named after a local pioneer rancher and Choctaw by marriage, James H. Tuttle. This old Chisholm Trail town is located in a low-lying river basin along the South Canadian River about thirty minutes southwest of Oklahoma City, at the junction of State Highway 37 and 92. It is part of the rapidly developing Tri-City area, along with its neighbors, Newcastle and Blanchard. Boasting the best of three worlds, this trifecta of towns offers visitors a chain of small town charms with a convenient channel to an uber urban scene - that of O-K-C. And, as you see painted across the water tower, Tuttle is also the home to Jason White, the former Heisman trophy-winning quarterback for the University of Oklahoma Sooners in 2003.
