Washita River Valley

Immerse Yourself in Nature on the Washita River

The Washita River forms in the Texas Panhandle and enters western Oklahoma in Rogers Mills County flowing east through Custer, Washita, Caddo, Grady, Garvin, Murray, Carter and Johnston counties. It extends 580 miles in Oklahoma before entering Lake Texoma. About 22 miles of the river is suitable for recreational paddling near Turner Falls and Price Falls. The river also cuts through the granite of the Arbuckle Mountains, carving out scenic and colorful rock formations with 350 foot walls running for about 15 miles. If traveling through Chickasaw Country during the spring or summer seasons, come embark on a thrilling water adventure at the Washita River or take a leisurely drive through the scenic foliage during the fall and winter!
