It's Fall, Yall! Let's Celebrate.
It’s fall, y’all. This is cause for celebration. Like most people in Oklahoma, I love this transition from the blistering heat to the “tears are frozen to my cheeks” cold. It’s perfect to go outside, enjoy the sunshine armed only with a light jacket, and pick a pumpkin. We only get to do this once a year folks, so let’s make it count. Here’s your guide to celebrate the season in Chickasaw Country!
What do hay, corn and sorghum all have in common? They’re what Chickasaw Country mazes are made of! Some are unique to the area and some are just plain fun. I ventured out to Brown Ranch Hay Maze. As a 23-year-old, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, and I know you will too.
Pick out a perfect pumpkin at one of these pumpkin patches. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, but also stick around for other fall fun activities like hayrides, a petting zoo, pony rides and more! Paint, carve and decorate your Chickasaw Country pumpkin or gourd and set it out for trick-or-treaters. I suggest visiting Happy Day Farms Pumpkin Patch in Terral or Cornerstone Kid's Ranch in Ada.
If you’ve ever driven on I-35 then you know the Arbuckle Mountain region is covered in trees. Eventually, these trees will start the transition to dormancy and those fall colors we all anticipate will arrive. That’s when you should hop in your car, grab a cup of coffee and plan a day trip to check the area out. Snap some pictures that your Instagram followers can ooh and aww at. Use #VisitChickasaw and maybe we’ll share your photo on our Instagram feed. Talk about mad street cred.
Make the season count, and get your fall fix in Chickasaw Country!
Until next time,
Katie
