Flavors of Chickasaw Country: Ken's Steak and Ribs
Beef. It’s what’s for dinner. And ribs. And chicken. And sausage, too.
At least it’s what’s for dinner at Ken’s Steak and Ribs in Amber, the latest stop in our Flavors of Chickasaw Country series.
Ken’s is a steakhouse through and through. They like to keep things simple at Ken’s. The meat is seasoned in salt and pepper only, and it gets its flavor from the mesquite wood they use to grill the food. They don’t have a menu. People going here for years know the same classic flavors and tasty sides will be a hit at every visit.
Did someone say cheese? Why is this relevant, you ask? They also have a cheese block. Every steak house I’ve ever enjoyed has always had a cheese block at its salad bar. That sold me right there.
If you need more reason to enjoy a meal at Ken’s Steak and Ribs, meet Ted Kennedy while you’re there, the manager turned owner of Ken’s, and look at what they’re grilling over the open fire.
Oh, as a free appetizer, they give you a rib. Basically, you get the best of both worlds, a taste of their ribs and a chance to order any other entrée you want to try. It’s about a 45-minute drive from the Oklahoma City metro area, so plan a date and head to Amber. Don't make reservations because they don't take them!
Until next time,
Katie
