Flavors of Chickasaw Country-Mud Creek BBQ
Chickasaw Country is always looking for new ways to bring you information about places to eat, stay, shop and explore. Over the next few months, I'm going to travel to some of our favorite places to eat in Chickasaw Country and spotlight what makes these different spots so darn special. Consider me your tour guide, and the destination is flavor town! Buckle up; it’s time for a little road trip. The first stop is Mud Creek BBQ in Ringling, Oklahoma.
Mud Creek BBQ is family owned and operated and has been in business for six years. Bill and his wife, Pat, started the restaurant. Now, you will find their two boys, Brad and Bryan, helping out behind the counter. Bill has competed all over the South in different BBQ competitions and has people begging for his secret sauce recipe. Once you taste this stuff, you will understand why he has won so many awards. Every plate served at Mud Creek is BBQ competition worthy, so we want to share it with you. Trust me. It’s worth the drive to Ringling.
During my time there the whole gang made me feel like family. They are some of the nicest people around. Bill kept pulling me aside to show me old photos of competition cooking. For whatever reason, we shared a special connection. He made me promise to bring my husband next time and to let him know in advance. Can you say date night road trip? I understand why the community supports Bill’s family and Mud Creek BBQ. The Ritters make you feel at home the moment you walk through the door.
Flavors of Chickasaw Country would not be complete without a short YouTube video of my trip. Take a moment and watch. You will learn all about what makes Mud Creek BBQ a hidden gem in south-central Oklahoma. I hope that you plan a visit to see the Ritter family soon.
Speaking from experience, save room for dessert. Pat makes homemade buttermilk pie, and it’s delicious. Thank you for reading and watching. I apologize in advance if it makes your mouth water. Stay tuned for the next Flavors of Chickasaw Country pit stop. We've got four more coming your way.
