Cookie Tour in South-Central Oklahoma

When Santa slides down the chimney on Christmas Eve, you’ll need to have a few cookies and a glass of milk waiting for him. Growing up this was one of my favorite traditions. I loved sitting on the kitchen counter as my mom taught me how to bake during the holiday season. We would have Mariah Carey’s Christmas album playing, cookies in the oven, and I always got to taste the dough. The kitchen was the heart of my family’s home. It’s where my sisters, my mom, and I would laugh, sing, and have life chats.

When I walk into a local bakery, the nostalgic feeling of my mom’s kitchen at Christmas comes back to me! I love trying different flavors of cookies at every bakery I visit. Below are my favorites at bakeries I’ve toured throughout south-central Oklahoma.

Shollie’s Sweets in Chickasha

In downtown Chickasha, you will find “The Sweetest Bakery in Oklahoma” – Shollie’s Sweets! There’s a reason this bakery was just named the sweetest bakery. They make beautiful cakes, cookies, cupcakes, puddings, and so much more. I first tried Shollie’s Sweets at the local free fair in August. I tried one cookie, but later came back for a half dozen! I couldn’t have only one.

The sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies tied as my favorite here. Stop by the bakery this holiday season for a treat that you can enjoy!

Mares Bakery in Sulphur

Down the street from the Mix Mercantile and Bromide Mountain Co., you will find the latest bakery in Sulphur – Mares Bakery! They specialize in baked breads, cakes, cupcakes, tarts, and of course, cookies! The locals love it, and I’m sure you will too. My favorite kind was the thumbprint cookie.

I think cookies from these bakeries would be perfect for a holiday party or gifts for co-workers, friends or your child’s teacher. Just wrap a red bow around it and you’ll be good to go!
