To help get your new year started, the staff at Chickasaw Country has a few suggestions for destinations you must visit in 2023!
“When in Sulphur, visit the Chickasaw National Recreation Area for a hike along the Buffalo Springs Trail and then grab lunch at The Table inside The Mercantile in downtown.”
- Katie, Tourism Arts Manager
“There’s a lot of great places visitors should experience in Chickasaw Country. One of my favorite areas in Chickasaw Country is Oklahoma’s largest state park, Lake Murray near Ardmore. What makes Lake Murray one of my favorite spots is that it provides a wide range of recreational activities, such as fishing, boating, kayaking and camping. It also offers a fantastic scenic view from the top of Tucker Tower.”
- Mayra, Tourism Social Media Manager
“I can’t go to Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies in Davis without coming back with extras for my family. There are over 20 flavors, and everyone seems to have a favorite. My husband LOVES the blueberry, lemon and apple pies. I am a fan of the coconut cream pie and pecan pie, and their savory pies look incredible. There’s something about the warm crust and gooey center that is absolute perfection! If you are down in Davis, you must stop by Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies!”
- Lacey, Tourism Communications Senior Manager
“I love the food and atmosphere at Giuseppe’s Italian Dining in Marlow. The lasagna and bread are to die for, and I love that it’s in the historic State National Bank building. It’s a great place to celebrate a special event!”
- Angel, Tourism Marketing Assistant Director
“We love riding our motorcycle through the Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur. It’s an absolutely beautiful place to ride. We then travel to the Chickasaw Retreat & Conference Center to take in a beautiful view of the lake. Our next stop is Fat Bully’s by the Lake. They have the most amazing hamburgers. Then we head home for the day.”
- Melissa, Office Manager
“I’m a huge country fan so Ole Red in Tishomingo is fun to go check out, and I love The Voice. So anytime I’m able to get there to see anyone from Team Blake perform, I try to make it. And for shopping, R + R Apparel Co. in Ada is the cutest boutique. Love that place!”
- Morgan, Tourism Coordinator
“I recommend staying at Mulberry Inn in Tishomingo. I love the history of the building and how the place feels like home. (Well, it is home, since Tish is my hometown.) The view from the balcony overlooking Main Street Tishomingo is perfect during sunrises and sunsets. And don’t miss the Chickasaw Bank Museum in town.”
- Kayla, Tourism Coordinator
"My favorite parts of Chickasaw Country are the quirky, hole-in-the-wall locations with big personality like the Toy and Action Figure Museum, the myriad of antique stores, and unique places like the lavender farm or the alpaca farm."
- Kelli, Tourism Communications Officer
