Addington, OK

Addington, Oklahoma is situated right on U.S. Highway 81, just six miles northeast of Waurika. The community was founded in the 1890's along the right-of-way of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. A post office was established at the townsite in January 1896, and the village was named for its first postmaster, James P. Addington.

Incorporated in 1901, Addington showed promise as an agricultural community with cattle, hogs, cotton, and corn as major commodities. Today, it is home to the Addington Station Antiques. While driving through, be sure to stop by to see Monument Hill, a landmark visible from miles away.
