Minco, Oklahoma
Located in Grady County just forty miles southwest of Oklahoma City, the town of Minco was first established in 1902 and is believed to be named after the great Chickasaw Chief and Warrior, Itawamba Minco. Situated along the historic Chisholm Trail, this old railroad town rose as an epicenter of entertainment attracting visitors in the surrounding areas for activities like horse races, polo, corn festivals, fairs, and baseball. To this day, Minco is a resilient, progressive community with a proud history and rich heritage that can be seen in the heart of its people and cultural preservations.
Every year since 1990, the locals celebrate their sweet blessings with a commemorative Honey Festival. This festival is ripe with entertainment and loaded with events all leading up to the announcement of Little Miss Honey Bee. Those wanting to experience the festival are encouraged to arrive early the day of the festival to stack up on pancakes and sausage at the Chamber of Commerce breakfast. The festival also provides an opportunity to tour the Ross Honey Plant, Great Plains Cotton Gin and Wind Towers as well as an arts & crafts show where past attendees have had the opportunity to meet one of the Ross family prodigies, Lucas Ross!
