The Gateway to Chickasaw Country
Driving south on I-35, the town of Goldsby is the first taste of Chickasaw Country that a traveler gets. The open farmland is a contrast to the world-class entertainment and high-fashion party venues right around the corner.
The history of Goldsby is relatively short and deeply entwined with neighboring towns such as Washington and Norman. The town was incorporated in 1962, and has never actually had its own post office, always sharing with Washington.
One historical element of Goldsby is the Davis Jay Perry Airport. It was originally built by the US Navy in 1943 to work in tandem for the war effort with what is now the Norman Regional Airport. Today it is a public use airport.
The town features a beautiful, newly renovated park that is perfect for hosting outdoor events at its multiple pavilions, taking a stroll along the paved trails around the park, letting the kids play on new playground equipment, or enjoying nature in a beautiful, classic gazebo. The park also features a beautiful veterans memorial to commemorate those who have bravely served our country.
From the small town atmosphere and wide open spaces, you might not guess that one of the most glamorous wedding and event venues in all of Chickasaw Country is located in Goldsby- Southwind Hills. The rustic, barn house-chic venue is set on 80 acres in the open area south of Riverwind Casino. Although close to I-35, Southwind Hills truly feels like a million miles away, and is the perfect setting for any special event. Hundreds of couples have said “I do” and millions of unforgettable moments have been shared at Southwind Hills. Be sure to check it out for your next big event.
After a day of play at Riverwind Casino or Goldsby Gaming, or just when you find yourself roaming down I-35, be sure to stop at Libby’s Café. You’ll feel right at home when you step in, whether you’re looking for a quiet family dinner that can be eaten in the downstairs dining area, or if you want to want to watch the big game or listen to live music on the upstairs patio.
If you need to walk around some after a great meal at Libby’s Café, you can head right next door to Marcum’s Nursery. Any time of year, they have just what you need to create an outdoor oasis at your home. Their staff will help you find exactly what will work for you, and Marcum’s often hosts events to help educate and entertain.
