See a glimpse into the past at the Kullihoma Grounds! Located ten miles east of Ada, OK, the Kullihoma Grounds is a Chickasaw tribal reserve that serves as a favorite gathering place for the Chickasaw people. It once was actively used as a stomp ground, school and an everyday community. Although it no longer serves those purposes, it is still a place for the Chickasaw people to reunite and for visitors to enjoy.
Kullihoma covers more than 1,961 acres. Near the stomp dance grounds are several replicated traditional community structures that Chickasaw ancestors constructed and used during the Mississippian cultural stage throughout the Homeland (consisting of parts of present-day Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee). These structures include a council house, raised corn crib, winter and summer houses. The Kullihoma Grounds have deep roots displaying key pieces of Chickasaw history. Open Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., stop by to see this fascinating landmark representing the cultural landscape of the Chickasaw heritage!
