Undercover Action Hero Fanatic

As a proud member of the Y-generation, I grew up to not only Saturday morning cartoons, but also a plethora of television channels dedicated to cartoons. My well-worn Captain Planet pajamas allowed me to pillow my head dreaming of saving the planet while my Superman backpack sent me off to school fiercely prepared to conquer the day.

If you relate to this self-proclaimed adoration for those certain super heroes who saved the world – you’re lying.

I’m just kidding! But – it’s safe to say if you drove anywhere near the vicinity of Pauls Valley your curiosity would peak knowing a Toy and Action Figure Museum is waiting for you.

As a twenty-something adult, I was overwhelmed at how many times the air was knocked out of my lungs as I saw something that reminded me of my 5 year-old self! I’ve been to a lot of museums in my life, but this one truly takes the cake!

The only problem was that there was a lot of looking – and not a lot of touching! This is fine for someone like me who saw Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and screamed, "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh," because I just know he said the word of the day!

Okay, fine, I didn’t really scream, but I wanted to!

I fibbed a little. There is a place to play and dress up. I neither confirm nor deny my participation in such activities.

However, I doubt I’m the only one out of the more than 75,000 visitors from all 50 states and 40 countries who have visited the museum who have picked up the direct line to NATO.

The Museum hosts corporate events and birthday parties. Did you hear that friends – I just found my spot for my next birthday party. (It’s in December in case you want to throw me a surprise party!) Sorry, I digress. Honestly, I was in awe when I realized how many Oklahomans are award-winning cartoonists. Did you know Dick Tracy was created by Pawnee native Chester Gould?

You should know I’ve been told if I’m not a fan of a place I visit, I’m supposed to tell you. As a firm believer in transparency, I don’t want you to think a place is amazing and then when you visit you are completely let down. With that said – this place is awesome!

I plan to visit this place often. For now, I’ll place the blame on the fact I forgot to take a picture of the Ninja Turtles. If you can keep a secret, I always wanted to be April O’Neil!
