Stamp Your Summer with Adventures

Summer is almost here. Can you feel it? The weather is finally getting warmer, the trees are turning green, and kids are getting anxious for school to be out.
How are you going to keep the kids entertained after the final school bell rings? Taking part in the Oklahoma State Parks passport program, keeps the kids and your family entertained throughout the summer.
This is a great way to stay active and make new family memories around Chickasaw Country by visiting all of the state parks throughout the summer.
Originally an idea from the National Park Service, The Oklahoma State Parks passport program encourages visitors of all ages to travel to different parks around the country and collect a stamp at each park. Oklahoma’s program began a few years ago as a push to get fourth grade students and their parents exploring Oklahoma’s state parks. Since the programs launch, it has become popular for all ages of children and adults.
The passport program is more than just visiting the parks. It is also about fitness. Yoga exercises and other simple activities are illustrated within the booklet for your family to participate in.
Here’s how it works. Stop by any state park office and get the Oklahoma State Park passport booklet. The best part? They are FREE!
After you get the book, start planning your adventures. Stop by the state park office at each park to get a park manager or park ranger’s signature. Once you’ve visited six Oklahoma State Parks, mail the page to the OKC administrative office. They will mail you a small token validating your visit to the parks. Each token bears a symbol that is unique to Oklahoma including bison, raccoon, scissortail flycatcher, and more.
Start your adventure in Chickasaw Country. We are home to two state parks – Lake Murray State Park and Lake Texoma State Park. Lake Murray State Park is Oklahoma’s oldest and largest state park. When you visit, make sure to hike to Tucker Tower. Lake Texoma State Park is home to Oklahoma’s second largest lake and is the perfect place to hang out on a summer day.
