Santa Claus is coming to Chickasaw Country
Mr. Claus is a very busy man this time of year, and yet, he still travels down from the North Pole to make several appearances in Chickasaw Country! Here’s a list of places to catch Old St. Nick before he heads back up to his workshop:
Visit Main Street in Ada throughout December for the Chickasaw Holiday Market to find the perfect gift for that special someone. The market features Native American art and jewelry, Bedré Fine Chocolates, books and so much more!
The whole family is sure to have fun at the Annual Breakfast with Santa in Ardmore on Dec. 14. There will be food, crafts and music for everyone to take part in the holiday fun. And don’t forget about the Candy Cane scramble! Tons of candy canes will be scattered all over the yard and kids will have the chance to grab as many candy canes as possible.
Visit Santa’s Workshop at the Ardmore Regional Park in Ardmore for an evening of jolly fun on Dec. 6-7. There will be crafts to take home, homemade goodies to enjoy, and of course, pictures with Santa!
Blanchard’s Christmas on Main
Spend a day in Blanchard for their annual Christmas on Main Celebration on Dec. 14. Visit Santa’s workshop for pictures and hot chocolate and then be sure to stick around for the lighted Christmas parade.
Newcastle Tree Lighting
For a night full of shopping, caroling with cookies and hot cocoa and even alpacas, head to the Leesa Cornett Park for the Newcastle Tree Lighting on Dec. 3.
To marvel at lights from the comfort of your toasty car, drive to the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur for the Celebration of Lights. This immaculate display features dozens of traditional and unique displays. Opening night for the Celebration begins at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 with Santa, cookies and candy canes and continues nightly through Dec. 31.
Chickasaw Cultural Center Christmas Celebration and Holiday Art Market
Spend the day at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur for their Christmas Celebration and Holiday Art Market on Dec. 14. Take pictures with Santa, listen to a story from Mrs. Claus, and enjoy a classic Christmas movie at the Anoli’ Theater. While you’re there, be sure to also check out the annual Festival of Trees in the Aapisa’ Art Gallery to see trees decorated for this year’s theme, “Celebrating Christmas Through the Decades”.
To get into the Christmas spirit, head to Sulphur to see the Downtown Plaza get transformed into a Winter Wonderland during the Parade of lights! Don’t miss this colorful light display that dances to music nightly during December!
Johnston County Breakfast with Santa
Enjoy the most important meal of the day in Tishomingo at the Johnston County Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 7. Kids will be able to take pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus and one of his elves, while also making an ornament to hang up on the tree at home!
Waurika Christmas Parade
Travel to southwest Chickasaw Country to witness the transformation of Waurika’s Main Street with lighted trees, decorated store fronts and a community tree. The whole town gathers for their annual Christmas Parade and to watch Santa make his way down the street in a firetruck on Dec. 14. Stay after the parade for drawings to win Christmas gifts from local merchants!
