Sam's Duck Club

It was a crisp fall morning when I made my way to Marietta.  My destination: Sam’s Duck Club. Honestly, I had no idea what was about to happen. My excitement level was off the charts on a scale of 1 to 10!

And let me tell you, this place has it all! From private ponds, custom duck blinds, picture-perfect scenery, on-site hunting lodge, ohh and the coolest thing ever—an airboat!

The first thing on my agenda when I arrived was a guided tour from none other than Sam, the owner and operator of Sam’s Duck Club. He spent time making sure to see every detail. Right now, it is a little early for duck hunting. I can promise you when it is duck season, these pounds will be filled with ducks of every kind. I even learned about a type of duck from Mexico that only travels as far north as the Marietta area. How cool is that?!

Off to the river we went, airboat loaded and ready to go. As soon as Sam unloaded the airboat, I knew it was about to get real! I was fully prepared with a sweatshirt, coat, earplugs, and headphones. You could say I was ready to rock! Sam had his iPhone stocked with classic rock music to jam to while driving us along.

Time for a Lindsey confession: I am obsessed with the show Swamp People! Yeah, I know—I am slightly embarrassed that I watched it. Anyhow, I have always wanted to go on a swamp tour. However, the thought of man-eating gators is terrifying; no thank you!

The airboat ride was the most fun I have ever had! I saw everything from gigantic turtles, tiny turtles, huge birds, and every kind of duck that lives in Oklahoma.

If duck hunting, fishing, or even just spending time outdoors is your thing—you need to call Sam up and plan a tour. Not only is he knowledgeable about all things hunting, but he is also a hoot! You will be laughing out loud and have the time of your life.  Heck, why not make a weekend out of it and stay at the hunting lodge?  Check your calendar; let Sam know how many people plan on coming, and pack your bags!

Thanks, Sam, for a trip that I will never forget!
