Night on the Town: McSwain Theatre

Each time I’ve had the opportunity to get a new stamp in my passport, I’ve been intensely seeking new cultures. My adventures as the Chickasaw Country travel blogger have allowed me to expand my horizons without leaving the boundaries of my home state. Experiencing new things is a driving force in my life and it’s a rarity that I would consider turning down an opportunity explore a new venue, especially when so many wonderful cultural events happen so close to home.

Yesterday, I took a friend and directed my car to Ada, which is home to the McSwain Theatre. Jae L. & Crossover were performing in the historical venue that has been housing acts for nearly 90 years. Unfamiliar with venue, I tweeted my plans was overwhelmed with positive responses.

Our seats were wonderful; however, it’s noteworthy that I moved throughout the venue during the show and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

If you’re looking for a Branson-type show, this is the place to visit. During this show, more seven special guests graced the stage, including Ada’s own McKenzie Crosby. The vibe during the show reminded me of a Thanksgiving dinner. Although there were a few inside jokes only locals would understand, I found myself laughing along with the audience.

The McSwain Theatre hosts a variety of artists and even schedules a few classic movies. For updates you can vist their website or their Facebook page. Tell them I sent you!
