The Vault Art Space and Gathering Place, commonly referred to as The Vault Pauls Valley, is an art gallery and private event venue in historic downtown Pauls Valley. Artist Exhibitions are held throughout the year. Opened in May 2017, traces of the building’s early 1900s roots can still be seen through the original vault door. Ceiling tiles, brick, stucco and markings on the antique floor further the historic nature of this venue.
Owner Susie Agee’s family has a history of making and appreciating visual art. This dates back to the 1930’s when her immigrant great-grandparents painted murals in downtown Tulsa homes. The outside of her building pays homage to her ancestors. The Butterfly Mandala, a mural by Oklahoma artist Rick Sinnett, adorns the alley wall and alludes to how history and its enduring elements work together like a wheel through time. Historical elements also dot the inside of the The Vault Pauls Valley art gallery. “The Legacy Room” contains vintage signs as well as furnishings from past Pauls Valley businesses including relics from the old Pauls Valley Elks Club. The Vault gets creative with reusing and preserving materials. The reused items provide added interest and using these items in the decor is a way to extend their lives.
Above all, the purpose of The Vault Art Space and Gathering Place is in its name: gathering and appreciating art. A proposal process is used for individual and joint exhibits. Each exhibit lasts about a month. Pieces range from the traditional to the abstract, sculpture to ceramics. The Vault Pauls Valley exhibit space can be set up for a private venue. Seating is customized to each event and can be arranged as work space, performance space or for a variety of catered events such as dinners, wedding receptions and showers.
